Senate Democrats Elect Leaders for 2009 2009-01-09 colleagues of Sen. Jerry Rhoads, D-Madisonville elected him Senate minority whip in an uncontested race. Sen. Joey Pendleton, D-Hopkinsville, decided not to run again for the position.
Senate Democrats re-elected Ed Worley of Richmond as minority floor leader and Johnny Ray Turner of Drift as minority caucus chairman.

Senator Jones Pre-Files Drugged Driver Bill 2008-08-28 FRANKFORT - State Senator Ray Jones, D-Pikeville, continues his fight to curb the rising drug problem in eastern Kentucky and will take it into the 2009 Kentucky General Assembly in January. On Thursday, Aug. 21, he pre-filed a bill that would strengthen Kentucky's DUI (Driving Under the Influence) law.

Christian County Sees Rise in Tourism Revenue for 2007 2008-07-10 Frankfort, Kentucky, July 10, 2008 -- Senator Joey Pendleton, D-Hopkinsville, announced today that tourism in Christian County increased 11% percent in 2007 and added more than $96 million to the county’s economy. These new statistics were released by the Kentucky Department of Travel and based on an annual report compiled by the Travel Industry Association (TIA) in Washington D.C.

Senator Boswell Joins Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear For Ribbon Cutting for Specialty Foods Group, Inc. 2008-06-03
State benefits allow company to expand jobs and increase farmer income FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 3, 2008) – Gov. Steve Beshear, along with several state officials including Senator David Boswell, D-Owensboro, last week presented Specialty Foods Group, Inc. with a check for $1,008,140 in Kentucky Agricultural Development Funds for the expansion of the Owensboro facility. Specialty Foods Group, Inc. is the parent company of Field/Fischer. The expansion has created 30 new jobs and shows potential to create an additional 40 jobs over time.

Senator Boswell Joins Governor in the dedication of Specialist Timothy Adam Fulkerson Memorial Highway 2008-06-03 Stretch of US 231 in Daviess County named for fallen soldier
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear joined several state and local officials, including State Senators David Boswell, D-Owensboro; Joey Pendleton, D-Hopkinsville, and Dorsey Ridley, D-Henderson, in Owensboro last week for a ceremony naming a section of US 231 in Daviess County in memory of a soldier killed in action in Tikrit, Iraq. The ceremony is a result of Boswell's Senate Resolution naming a portion of the highway in honor of Specialist Timothy Adam Fulkerson.
